Download
Download the Yocto-built image (v2.0.4): smartyhome-yocto-v2.0.4-gui-intel-corei7-64.wic.gz (773 MB)
Native Flutter UI · local backend · Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Sound · OTA updates. balenaEtcher flashes the .wic.gz directly — no need to unzip.
Method 1: Extract to FAT32 USB (Pipo X9 / 32-bit UEFI)
1. Format USB as FAT32
On Windows: Right-click USB → Format → FAT32. On Linux: mkfs.vfat -F32 /dev/sdX1
2. Flash the image
Use balenaEtcher — it reads the .wic.gz directly (no unzip needed): Flash from file → select the .wic.gz → select USB/eMMC → Flash.
3. Boot
F2 → Security → Disable Secure Boot → Save & Exit → Boot Override → USB
Method 2: Etcher (Easiest — All Tablets)
1. Download Etcher
From etcher.balena.io
2. Flash
Select the .wic.gz file → Select USB/eMMC → Flash!
3. Boot
Insert USB → Enter BIOS (F2/Del) → Boot from USB
Method 3: dd (Linux/macOS)
gunzip -c smartyhome-yocto-v2.0.4-gui-intel-corei7-64.wic.gz | sudo dd of=/dev/sdX bs=4M status=progress conv=fsync
Installing to Internal Storage (eMMC)
1. Boot from USB
Use Boot Override in BIOS (as described above).
2. Download and run the installer
curl -fsSL https://hub.smartyhome.in/docs/install-to-emmc.sh -o install.sh
sudo sh install.sh3. Power off, remove USB, restart
The tablet now boots directly from the internal storage with the new SmartyHome OS.
Pipo X9 Specific Notes
- USB must be FAT32 (32-bit UEFI can't read exFAT/NTFS)
- Use Boot Override under Save & Exit — NOT the regular boot order
- If black screen: select "Safe Graphics (nomodeset)" at GRUB
- WiFi (RTL8723BS) and audio (Bay Trail SST) drivers included
- Touchscreen should work with evdev/libinput automatically
