Cloud Linking
Why Link to Cloud?
Cloud linking is optional. Your tablet works fully offline for local device control. Cloud linking enables:
| Feature | Without Cloud | With Cloud |
|---|---|---|
| Local device control | ✅ | ✅ |
| Cloud device sync | ❌ | ✅ Auto-syncs all your devices |
| Remote access | ❌ | ✅ Control from mobile app anywhere |
| Push notifications | ❌ | ✅ Doorbell, motion, alerts |
| Multi-tablet sync | ❌ | ✅ All tablets stay in sync |
| OTA updates | Manual | ✅ Automatic |
| Cloud backup | ❌ | ✅ Scenes, schedules backed up |
How to Link
Step 1: Open Settings
From the dashboard, tap the gear icon or go to Settings → Cloud.
Step 2: Generate Link Code
Tap Link to Cloud. A QR code and 8-digit link code appear. The code is valid for 30 minutes.
Step 3: Scan QR Code
Open your phone camera or any QR scanner and scan the code. This opens admin.smartyhome.in/assistant/link?code=XXXXXXXX in your browser.
Step 4: Sign In
Enter your SmartyHome account email and password on the page. If you don't have an account, you can create one for free.
Step 5: Code Verified
After signing in, the cloud page shows: "Linked! Enter this code on your TabOS: XXXXXXXX"
Step 6: Enter Code on Tablet
Type the 8-digit code into the input box on your tablet. Tap Verify & Link Device.
Step 7: Done!
The tablet is now linked to your account. All your cloud devices sync automatically. The dashboard refreshes to show them.
Hybrid Operation
After linking, your tablet operates in hybrid mode:
- Local control: LAN devices controlled directly via HTTP/MQTT — no internet needed
- Cloud sync: Cloud devices appear and sync in real-time via MQTT
- Auto-failover: If internet drops, local devices keep working; cloud devices show offline
- Bidirectional sync: Changes made on tablet sync to cloud; changes from mobile app sync to tablet
Hardware ID
Each tablet has a unique hardware ID derived from the CPU serial number. This persists across resets and OTA updates. Your cloud account remembers which tablets are linked — so after a factory reset, just link again with the same account and everything restores.
Unlinking
- Go to Settings → Cloud
- Tap Unlink
- Confirm in the OS dialog
All local settings (scenes, schedules, rules, WiFi) are preserved. Only the cloud session is removed. Cloud devices disappear from the dashboard but remain on your account.
